Summary

In Chapter 6, Frankie wakes alone in her hooch and she sees a rat. She gets ready and goes outside to the mess hall, but she leaves quickly, vomiting outside. She then goes in to see Major Goldstein who reprimands her for being three minutes late. Helicopters come in because there has been a MASCAL, a mass casualty event. Ethel directs everybody and tells Frankie how triage works; the medical professionals help first the men who they believe they can save. The rest are aided if time allows. A man comes in with a huge abdominal wound, and Frankie sits with him as he dies, lying to him by telling him that his friend is okay and that she will help him write a letter to his mother after he undergoes surgery,

Later that day Frankie thinks of Finley. She is outside...
