Summary
Arthur arrives at a train station in “The Journey North.” He excitedly boards the train, curious about his new adventure. While on the train, Arthur shares his compartment with a Crythin Gifford local named Samuel Daily. They chat about the widow Drablow and the mystery surrounding the house. Daily reassures Arthur that the town is really quite friendly. He offers to take Arthur to Gifford Arms, the inn where Arthur is staying. Arthur accepts his offer.
In “The Funeral of Mrs Drablow,” Daily drops Arthur off at Gifford Arms in his fancy car. Samuel offers Arthur his card. Arthur doubts he will have any use of it during his short stay.
