Summary

“October 9, 1880: Waxing Moon” starts with the chapter “The Final Fitting.” Beatrice and her friends got ready for the symposium. Dr. Brody ran into his old acquaintance, Andersen, who told him he had fallen in love with a woman at the asylum and wanted Dr. Brody’s assistance getting her out. He agreed to think about it.

In “Parade,” the Mason Parade began outside the Fifth Avenue Hotel while everyone prepared for the symposium. Adelaide realized she had romantic feelings for Dr. Brody, but was hesitant to act on them. The ghost of Adelaide’s mother tried to find her and warn her that a wicked man was coming to catch a witch. On her way to the symposium, Mr. Palsham stopped Beatrice and asked her about touching Cleopatra’s Needle. Beatrice got frightened and tried to run away...
