Summary

Chapter 24- Cecelia and Miss Darlington arrive fashionably late to the queen’s Jubilee Banquet at Buckingham Palace. Neither of them wants to be there. Miss Darlington tells Cecelia not to steal, which bores Cecelia since the only interesting thing about royals is their jewels. Cecelia is anxious about seeing Ned. Her aunt offers her a cocaine pill that she pretends to take, then hides in her purse. Cecelia dreads that the society will never promote her, despite turning Ned away for that chance. Once inside the party, Miss Darlington has the air of a queen. Other pirates mingle with royalty.
