Summary

Chapter 19 opens by describing Ramona and the pub she runs. She is a member of the Beartown hockey committee and enjoys arguing with the male committee members. Though Ramona usually smokes outside, she is smoking inside because the wind is so strong. It is why she does not see Fatima start walking home when she gives up on the bus coming. It is also why she does not see Matteo or hear him banging on the door. She would have opened up for him if she had. That is not the way Matteo remembers the experience, however, he thinks it proves the only thing that interests the town is hockey.
