Part Two: Chapters 40-43 Summary
LuAnn's meeting with Donovan was insightful. She learned that the drug dealer she had hit with the telephone had been fatally stabbed to death. She had always thought that he died from the trauma she inflicted to his head, but she now knew this to be incorrect. When she learned of his stabbing she correctly concluded that another person was present that day. LuAnn recognized that this person must have been the man who called himself "Rainbow' and who had attempted to blackmail her all those years ago. She also discovered that a warrant was still out for her arrest regarding Duane's death. Although Donovan did have information that Billy Harvey, the sheriff of Rikersville, would be interested in, Donovan's real motivation was related to the lottery.
