Pemberton was truly resourceful. Within a few short days he provided Charlie with the location of the elusive Honda involved in the car chase. It was being housed at a rental cottage nearby. Charlie and LuAnn bickered over who would investigate further. They each decided to go, but didn't share this information with the other. Matt Riggs followed at a safe and undetectable distance. Charlie arrived first. He found the cottage empty and picked the lock. Inside he discovered Donovan's detailed files and realized that Donovan had cracked the lottery scam.
