Section 4: Chapters 6-7 Summary
In Chapter 6, Hock Seng is bothered by the idea that keeping money in the bank means that his money becomes a stranger's money. As he makes his way out of the Yaowarat slums, he thinks of life in Malaya and his attempts to escape when things went badly. Hock Seng finds Laughing Chan on the docks and waits for him to retrieve Dog Fucker whose patron he wants to meet. He offers them a deal, and Dog Fucker's eyes widen when Hock Seng shows him his wad of cash, embezzled from the SpringLife factory, and claims he has a business proposition for the Dung Lord. Hock Seng is unafraid when Dog Fucker threatens to beat him and take the money, insisting they can earn more from his proposition. After he leaves a letter for the Dung Lord, Laughing Chan...
