Chapter 13 Summary

Zhegorz is so thrilled with his new glasses and eyepieces that he pronounces himself cured, but Tris and Briar quickly banish that notion. They reach the Landreg town house and unpack, and the next day Sandry, Tris, Daja, Briar and Gudruny return to the palace where extra maids and footmen are assigned to them. Tris is given a suite with a library, and Ishabal visits to offer her the opportunity to create a library of her own should she stay. Tris knows that to be employed eventually means being asked to wage war. She asks for time to consider, and the deal is sweetened considerably. Once Ishabal leaves, Tris redoubles her resolve to go to Lightbridge school no matter what she is offered and she absolutely refuses to use magic for battle.
