Chapters 11 and 12 Summary

Empress Berenene discusses the attempt to kidnap Sandry with Ishabal Ladyhammer at Sablaliz Palace. She also receives a report regarding the new river walls in Pofkim. She decides it's time to pay the Landreg Castle a visit. Sandry is working on some stitching for Ealaga when Daja's tells her to spruce up and join her company. Daja lets Sandry watch through her eyes and notices as Sandry does that Shan has come as well. Briar is in the cold room when Tris finds him to tell him the Empress has arrived. He hurries out but she takes her time, renewing the cold spells on the room. Zhegorz hides in the closet in Briar's room, afraid of the Empress. As soon as she is able, Sandry slips away.
