Chapter 10 Summary
Tris holds Chime and as the villagers admire the little dragon, it begins to purr happily. She can smell the earth, and the river, butter in a churn and soap being made somewhere. She hands Chime off to a young girl and walks over to the river. Closing her eyes, she uses her gift to examine the foundation and can see that the river is prying it all apart. She uses her magic to pull rocks to the surface from all over the area, amused with the issue of doing it without terrifying the villagers. Sandry approaches her, telling her the villagers are frightened, and she works to force the remaining power back into her braids. With help, she struggles to get up, and looking down realizes that she has sunk into the ground up to her waist. The villagers love how the...
