Chapters 3 and 4 Summary

The four of them could have entered Dancruan quietly, but Chime sees a magpie and gives chase. They wait for her while the Caravan goes ahead without them. Sandry enjoys the brief respite as does Briar, stretched out on the grass. A horn blows and he asks Tris to call Chime back. Tris closes her book and announces Chime is returning, chased by nobles and their falconers. Daja tells Sandry that Tris appears to be seeing things on the wind as well as hearing them these days, but Sandry reminds her that even her teacher Niko, one of the best sight mages worldwide, is unable to do that. Briar encourages them to mount their horses as Chime comes over the rise. The party of riders arrives, and for a moment the four are a cohesive group again. Then Sandry realizes who...
