Summary
In Chapter 12, Vanessa gets a package at Aunt Charlotte’s from Richard. As she looks at his handwriting she thinks about how he used to write notes to her and how the tone of those notes changed as time went by. Inside the box is their wedding album, some summer clothes and a diamond choker that he gave her after one of the worst fights. Vanessa is angered and cannot think of anything but Richard’s hands on his new girlfriend. Thinking perhaps she can win a supporter in Richard’s sister, Vanessa calls Maureen. She hears Maureen giving a taxi driver the location to which she is headed before answering the call.
