Summary

It is May 16 in Chapter 5, and it is senior week. The week culminates in Halloween in May on Friday of the week. Maddy usually skips events like this, but she is there. Jules is dressed in blackface dressed as Maddy. Some of the teachers are dumbfounded while others try to suppress snickers. Maddy runs out. Many kids laugh, but the Black kids do not. Wendy tells Jules that the costume is not funny. Wendy tells Jules to leave, but Jules says it is her rally. Kenny confronts Jules, but she says her costume is just a joke. Brady tells Kenny to back up, and members of the football team hold Kenny back. Jason plays down the incident telling Kenny that Jules is just being how she always is.
