Summary

Chapter 70 returns to Shallan's first person narration as she sits alone in the private room in the hospital. She is miserable that she has disappointed Jasnah and thrown away everything she worked so hard for. Her thoughts turn to Kabsal and that day they were poisoned. Shallan realized that Jasnah ate the bread but was not affected. She draws the seen from what she can remember and comes to realize something about Jasnah. Shallan leaves the room, as it is unguarded now, and returns to Jasnah's alcove. Jasnah tells her that she is not welcome but Shallan comes and sits anyway. Shallan tells Jasnah that she knows Jasnah's Soulcaster is a fake. Jasnah tries to tell Shallan that she has several fakes to protect the real one but Shallan, who has brought her sketchbook with her, shows Jasnah her drawing of the place...
