Summary
Interlude 7 introduces a new first person narrator by the name of Baxil. He and his companion Av follow their mistress down a lavish hallway as Baxil keeps looking over his shoulder, waiting for a servant to appear and sound a warning. Av tells him to not be so nervous as Baxil thinks about how beautiful their mistress is. Their mistress finally speaks, asking Baxil to hand over her tools. When he does, she proceeds to walk down the room they ended up in and destroy any art she finds. While she does that, Baxil tells Av he has been thinking of seeking the Old Magic. Av tells him that he has never done it because the curse almost always seems to outweigh the boon the Nightwatcher bestows. Their mistress returns and asks for the padded mallet so she can smash a statue. She...
