Summary
Chapter 29 returns to Shallan's first person narration as she communicates with her brothers back in Jah Keved via spanreed. Her brothers ask about her mission to steal Jasnah's Soulcaster and they apologize for making her do such a difficult thing. They inform her that she only has a few months to succeed before their father's creditors get too suspicious and come to claim their debts. Nan Balat then sends the other brothers away and communicates to Shallan, via his fiancée, that their father's steward Luesh has died. Shallan is shocked as he was the only one who knew how to use a Soulcaster. Nan Balat also tells Shallan that there were several men who visited their house after Luesh died who were looking for the Soulcaster. They all had a tattoo of the same symbol that Luesh wore as a pendant. The...
