Point of View

The Water Cure is narrated in the first person by two of the main characters, sisters Grace and Lia. Most of the chapters are labeled with the narrator's name, with a few chapters being narrated by all three sisters. These chapters are brief and provide general information about the girls' circumstances without delving into their interior lives and feelings. Part I of the novel switches back and forth from the perspectives of Grace, Lia, and all three sisters, Part II is narrated by Lia only, and Part III is narrated entirely by Grace. The perspective of Sky, the youngest sister, is never given, so the reader can only guess how she feels about the events of the novel by her behavior, described by the other two sisters.
