Summary

Tiffany called Stephen on Christmas Day, went to check on their apartment in Berlin and then returned to her job of removing rocks. By mid-February Tiffany had made a sizeable gap in the rocks covering the river bank. She watched as winter turned into spring. She started working on the second gap in the rocks on the river bank. In mid-April she stopped working. She enjoyed herself and thought she could stay there forever as long as no one expected her to work. At the Elbe Conference she got to see Gernot as a clergyman. He appeared to be soft and sheepish, not the commanding and cynical man that she knew.
