Chapter Thirteen Summary
When Janie gets home, her mother is filled with questions and hugs. In keeping with their plans, Janie talks about how grand Boston is; how they had walked and walked; how much history there is to see; and uses the chatter to deflect the conversation away from Reeve entirely. She tries to hide how angry she still is, and still answer the questions both her mother and father have for her. She looks at them, and suddenly realizes that she loves both sets of parents. The thought eases the rage she feels to some degree, replacing it with a lump in her throat. At the same time, Jodie and Brian are facing similar conversations at home.
