Summary
In the Prologue, the narrator describes that Anthony Bridgerton’s parents loved him with a love that was unusual for their time. They saw him as a child, not an heir. Anthony’s father, Edmund, was active in caring for his children, which was also unusual. Because he had given Anthony the Bridgerton pocket watch when Anthony was eight, Anthony felt as if his relationship with his father was special.
Anthony was 18-years-old when he arrived home to Aubrey Hall to find his sister, Daphne, sitting in the hallway crying. Anthony already knew something was wrong because Daphne never cried.
