Grandma Nora's House

Grandma Nora's house is located in Georgia. Ray visits her house for holidays. Six years before the narrative present, he spends Thanksgiving and Christmas with Grandma Nora. He cherishes these times, because he feels closer to his grandmother than to anyone else in his life. During these visits, Grandma Nora both encourages Ray and introduces him to the story of PopPop's fiddle. He spends the majority of his time while here, searching the attic for the elusive fiddle. Then, on Christmas Day, Grandma Nora presents him with the instrument. Ray ignores the arguments that ensue between his family members, in that the violin is a symbol of connection to his past and his future.

Ray returns to Grandma Nora's house three years prior to the narrative present when he discovers she has cancer. He spends her last days with her, sitting by her bedside and listening...
