Emily is one of the main characters of the novel. She is also the first person narrator of the novel’s numerical chapters. At the start of The Villa, Emily is struggling to find her footing after experiencing a series of unfortunate events in her recent past. After her husband Matt of seven years cheats on her and ends their marriage, Emily finds it impossible to return to her life and work as a writer.
