Summary

In Part V: "Pacific Cove (1985/1988)," Chapter 14, Kennedy began appearing on the Pacific Cove soap opera, as Charity Harris. The longer she played the role, the more people identified her solely as Charity. One day Kennedy remembered watching Stella bake a cake. Stella had not wanted help, and did not explain what or why she was doing it. When she tried asking Stella about her mother, Stella said Adele was dead. Kennedy grew angry Stella never told her anything. Around the same time, she asked where Stella was from. Stella had mentioned Mallard when Kennedy was a baby, but would not confirm it again.

Not long after the Midnight Marauders closed, Kennedy reencountered Jude in New York. Kennedy had seen Jude in the audience while performing in Fiddler on the Roof, and forgot her lines. When Kennedy again...
