Summary

Isa comes back downstairs after her confrontation with Mr. Beiderman. She goes to find Jessie sitting outside on the fire escape. After Jessie apologizes again, Isa forgives her. Jessie tells Isa that she felt as though she was losing her as a sister because their interests were beginning to drift apart.

Back at dinner, Papa gives a toast about how much the family has enjoyed living in their brownstone and how grateful they are to have had such an amazing home. Isa is upset that they did not manage to convince Mr. Beiderman to allow them to stay, but she feels happy that their trying brought the family even closer.
