The Awakening, Chapters 9-10 Summary
Chapter Nine begins with Stefan thinking about his feelings for Elena, and how much she reminds him of Katherine. He decides that no, Elena is not the reincarnation of Katherine, but realizes that if he allows himself to get closer to her he might end up hurting her. Stefan is confused over Vickie Bennett's attack, thinking that he must have been the one to do it and to almost kill the old man, although he remembers leaving the old man hurt, but not maimed. His thoughts drift back to Katherine and how he had implored her to turn him into a vampire so many years ago.
