Summary
In Chapter Six, Mateo Hendrickson compares all his classmates and teachers to characters from movies and television. He does not know what to make of Mr. Kermit, who mostly just gives them worksheets and then sits at his desk drinking coffee and doing crossword puzzles unless Ms. Fountain comes in to complain, and then Mr. Kermit will act strict and authoritarian. One day, a former athlete named Barnstorm who is off the team with an injury throws a tantrum, banging his crutches against the wall because he does not get to go to the pep rally early with the team. Mr. Kermit spends an hour on the intercom, yelling at various secretaries and principals until he finally gets ahold of the coach, who agrees to let Barnstorm come to the rally early with the team.
