Chapters 61-62 Summary

In Chapter 61, Vogel is meeting with Schellenberg in Berlin, and it is April of 1944. They are discussing the disaster of losing Anna and Neumann. Canaris has been removed from power. Schellenberg shares the latest intelligence he has received from their inside man in MI5, and Vogel admires the deception that was perpetrated by the upper ranks of MI5. Vicary has been removed from office and blamed for the existence of the German spies.

Chapter 62 is Jordan's funeral. Dorothy Lauterbach, Margaret's mother, and now caretaker of Billy Jordan, reads a letter written to Billy from Alfred Vicary. Vicary tells Billy that Peter Jordan was a hero. Dorothy looks out the window of her estate and sees her other daughter Jane sitting with Walker Hardegen, and with Billy. Dorothy thinks about how life continues, no matter what happens.
