Corvette
This is the streetcar that Mark Donahue first races in. He races one of his friends who has a different sports car designed to travel on the public and private roadways. He emphasizes that this is different from a race car. In fact, his racing experience in the Corvette introduces him to the truth of how much of a difference car design really makes. He loves the Corvette that stars in the early chapters of the book.

This is the very first real race car that the author of the book uses. He loves this car. He wins his first races in this vehicle. This car is a classic from the cusp of the 1960s. This car appears during the first 20 pages of the book when Mark finds out that he can win races as a professional in it.
