Daniel Kahneman
Although the books is ostensibly about the collaboration between Daniel Kahneman and Amos Tversky – known throughout as Danny and Amos – Danny is the book’s central protagonist.
Danny was born in France. Danny and his family were Jewish and had to flee their home city of Paris during World War Two after the Nazis invaded. Danny’s father passed away before the end of the war after which Danny and the rest of his family moved to Palestine and settled in the newly created state of Israel. Later in life, Danny resisted the suggestion that his traumatic childhood shaped who he became as an adult. Danny went on to become an influential presence in the Israeli military, revolutionizing their recruitment methods, before beginning his academic collaboration with Amos.
