Kamala is passionate about criminal justice reform, believing it needs a drastic fix. The criminal system has to be changed from the inside out, and people like Kamala need numerous allies to make it happen.
Kamala first explains what exactly she is trying to accomplish by talking about progressive prosecution. This is an important step in criminal justice reform because it focuses on rehabilitation over incarceration. A progressive prosecutor should want non-violent offenders - particularly those charged with things like drug crimes- to have a path back into society, Kamala argues.
