Summary
When Kamala first arrived in the Senate, she decided to join the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence to know first hand about threats facing America. She expected to work in the shadows until the committee released an assessment on Russia’s influence on the 2016 election. This quickly became an incredible undertaking. She explains that most of what she does is classified, but there are assessments meticulously written for the public to hide any dangers to national security. Twice a week, the committee meets with the leaders of 17 intelligence agencies in a room designed to stop eavesdropping. Inside the room, she says that the divide between Republicans and Democrats does not exist. They focus on business and understand the weight and consequences of their work.
