Summary

The bomb explodes, and Apollo kicks off one of the blemmyae while the other turns him. He asks that they let Meg go, but is saved by three Karpoi, including Meg’s friend Peaches, as Apollo passes out. He tells the reader that he did not know how the Karpoi got him and Meg to the car, nor does he know how they drove them to the city. However, he is relieved to hear the sounds of battle and leaves Meg with the Karpoi to try and find his friends.

After slipping through unnoticed at a barricade, he sees many of the Waystation inhabitants holding their own against Commodus’s army.
