Summary

Meg and Apollo leave, and Apollo is nervous after he gets pulled over, even after he is let go. He wonders about Lityerses and hopes he will fight for the Waystation. Meg asks Apollo to teach her the piano, and he realizes that she is trying to find hope in the future despite her pain. He agrees, and she asks that he not tell her about the horrors of the cave until they get there. After two hours, Apollo is forced to consult Dodona, who tells him to look for an emperor's sign where they will jump a fence and head to two streams. There, they will drink the water and jump into the chasm after facing an unkillable guardian. However, Dodona demands to stay in the car.

After the two find the sign Dodona was talking about, Apollo is both thrilled and horrified...
