Summary
In Chapter Thirty-Six, Apollo wonders why everything has to be so big and thinks the gods want any human visitors to remember how small they are. Apollo manages to grow to the right height and feels like an imposter. After the gods reveal who won the betting pot, Dionysus says that Apollo did well and hopes Zeus will stop his own punishment. Zeus refuses and Demeter says Apollo should be honored. Hera reminds Zeus of Jason’s death and says Apollo actually grieved over it. Apollo is surprised when she looks at him without hatred. Zeus says the Fates can now spin again and Apollo had not realized Python had interrupted them. Zeus says he is satisfied, and Apollo says he is going to visit old friends.
