Indian Americans
Each of the stories in the collection is focused on the experiences of characters who are defined, to one degree or another, by their connection to the broader, ethno-cultural community of North American Indians. First, it is important to note that the term “Indian” is used here as it is used throughout this analysis and throughout the collection, i.e. as the term for persons of Indigenous or Native American ancestry. Second, it is also important to note that in the collection’s various characters, that ancestry is identified as either full-blood or half-blood, again using the terminology of the collection itself.
