Summary
When Otto arrives to the shop and finds it vandalized, he reacts with silent shock. Then he and Franz busy themselves cleaning it up, after which Otto sends Franz for some beer.
That evening, a squad of men come to the tobacconist’s shop and insist on entering even though it is closed. One of the men punches Franz, and another with a mournful face tells Otto he is being arrested for distributing pornographic magazines to his Jewish customers. The men search the store and find such magazines in a desk drawer. Franz attempts to tell the men that the magazines belong to him, but Otto encourages him to be quiet and let the men take him away. After seeing Otto’s despair, Franz gives up.
The men take Otto away, and Franz stands in shock. He notices the butcher, Rosshuber, watching him...
