Summary
Zoe tells the group they need to travel up the mountain of despair to get back to her home, where Annabeth would be. Grover goes to take the creature by sea, while the rest of the group intends to go by land to get to Annabeth. Percy prays to his father for safety, throwing the lion’s mane into the water as an offering. He realized that it belonged to Hercules, the very same hero that Zoe had helped in his dream. They need a vehicle, but have no money to buy one and don’t want to risk stealing one. Thalia remembers that Annabeth’s family moved to San Francisco, so they seek them out.
