Suspense
Suspense is the dominant theme of Tin Princess and the author, Philip Pullman, is good with building suspense. The suspense begins in the opening pages of the novel and continues until the very end. The suspense is continual and results in exciting reading for the reader. The suspense begins with the mystery surrounding the identity and situation involving Herr Strauss and Miss Bevan and the bomb blast outside their home. It continues when Razkavian Crown Prince Wilhelm and his princess are assassinated, requiring Prince Rudolf and his bride, Adelaide Bevan, to go to Razkavia. Who is killing Razkavian royalty and why? Jim finds a maid accepting a bribe for information on Rudolf and Adelaide and follows the culprit to the Alhambra Theater where they find a Spanish actress. The suspense thickens when the scene shifts to Razkavia. Rudolf is killed immediately after his coronation. He passes the flag...
