Chapter 17 Summary
Rumors continue to circulate around the city. Godel did not expect a German invasion and demands to know the terms of Count Thalgau's deal with Berlin. All the Count did was to supply the banker with the terms of the treaty in advance in exchange for money. An aide arrives with a message from the Germans to Godel. They want the flag brought to the train station.
Godel gives orders to have Prince Leopold brought to the station and for a train to be readied to travel to Prague. While this is going on, Adelaide and the students are making their way to the Rock where the flag is. Adelaide tells the guards to take the flag down because of the German invasion.
