Chapters 17-19 Summary
Adelaide rode down in the funicular. Jim rode along side the carriage back to the Palace. The Count rode on the other side of the carriage. The soldiers and police searched for clues of the assassin. Guests arrived at the Palace for the reception. Godel announced that the reception would take place without the Queen.
Jim talks with the Count who says he suspects Otto. Jim says that he does not think it was Otto. They decide that Adelaide, as Queen, must address the reception. Jim then tells the Count what happened with Godel that morning.
When Godel walks in, the Count says that he is the Queen's personal secretary and Jim is his assistant. They will meet with the Queen immediately after the reception. After Godel leaves, the Count says they have a week to get control of the country...
