Dor
Dor is a man who lives in ancient times before calendars, clocks, and the written word. However, this does not stop him from teaching himself to count with numbers yet to be invented and from creating instruments to count time. Dor becomes the inventor of time. This becomes an obsession for Dor and it begins to take him away from precious moments of which he should be aware.
Dor and his wife are sent into exile and Dor does not notice how unhappy his wife is without her children. In fact, it takes an illness for Dor to notice how precious time is and to begin to wish he had more time with his wife. When Dor climbs the Tower of Babel to ask God for more time, he is imprisoned in a cave and forced to watch the misery created by his obsession with time.
