Summary
The husband grew up with his parents and older sister. Although his parents had hopes for his life, they never pressured him. However, their lifestyle and friends programmed him for “careers that bred success” (92). The husband wants “an uncomplicated” and “privileged existence” (93). He is ready to start a family and has enough money to do so. Although he knows his wife has a challenging relationship with her parents, he thinks she “will be a good mother” (96).
The husband works in his study. However, he gets stressed when his boss emails, scolding him for leaving early. His wife enters with some tea and they start kissing. Just when she undoes his pants, Temi rings the bell. The wife runs downstairs, annoying the husband. He looks down at Temi and she makes a jab at him.
Back in the study, the husband cannot focus...
