Anna Forster

Although the book is divided into three point of views, Anna’s story is central to the whole novel. The story starts with her struggle with Alzheimer’s. She decides to go to a assisted living facility, Rosalind. There, she meets Luke, another young dementia patient. At the beginning of the novel, Anna is sarcastic and pessimistic about her prognosis, but with Luke’s help and their budding romance, she becomes more optimistic and falls in love with him.

Anna loses her ability to tell a story over the course of the novel. She starts getting confused and terrified about what is happening all around her. The only times when she is not frightened is when she is around Luke, showing the power of love to affect even those who are not able to express their love.
