Chapter One Summary
Seventeen-year-old Levi used to love his brother, Boaz. But lately, he hasn't been so sure. He'd never admit it, even to Pearl, his best friend. Everyone loves Boaz - even people that don't know him. A big brother is such an important part of growing up. But once reaching adulthood, things and perceptions can change. Boaz is coming home tonight. It had been announced at assembly that day. Mrs. Bowers didn't mention Levi in her announcement but everyone knew that "Boaz Katznelson," had to be related to Levi Katznelson. Besides, there wasn't a plethora of relocated Israelis the Boston area.
Mrs. Bowers had glowed about Boaz' three years as a marine in which he had honorably served his country. Boaz had graduated from the Bay City High School and, as Bowers pointed out, was a superlative student who would have been...
