Summary

In “Expert #1” at home that night Suzy began researching jellyfish experts. She found one, a man from Japan, whom she found interesting. When she learned more about him she discovered he also wrote poetry. She rejected him because of the poetry.

In the section “Mote of Dust,” in science class Mrs. Turton showed the students a picture of Earth taken from outer space in 1968. In contrast she showed them a picture taken from three billon miles away that showed the Earth as just a dot. Suzy considered both views. She liked the one from 1968 better because it looked more like the Earth mattered. In the newer photo, the Earth looked insignificant. After showing them the pictures Mrs. Turton announced they needed to pick lab partners. Suzy thought the new girl, Sarah Johnston, was coming toward her but...
