Summary
Georgie does not tell his parents about his role in the play (Chapter 16), but they find out anyway when a letter arrives about practice. Both of them think that playing Abraham Lincoln could be good for him. He still does not think so, but is happy to be distracted by his private swimming lessons. He goes to the first one and is doing fine. Then he sees Allison and she is all he can think about. He convinces his mother to let him stay once his lessons are over and he talks to Allison. She is with a friend of hers, Nicki. Nicki makes remarks about Georgie being “that kid,” but Allison tries to keep her quiet.
