Summary
In Chapter 35, “St. Penryn,” Owen has his forces camped near enough to see the walls of Penryn. He has time to think, but knows he does not have all the information to understand what is happening. He believes Marshal Roux is “behind the mist and shadows” (Location 3976), though he is not certain how. He wonders if Roux had anything to do with Bothwell's escape. He is also certain Roux is Fountai-blessed. Owen's thoughts are interrupted by his herald who announces that Etayne has arrived. The man also says Occitanian troops are headed for Averanche. There are a few hundred men there and the logical thing would be to move to their aid. Owen believes it is a trap to lure him away from Penryn.
