Summary
In Chapter Twelve, “Carpitz,” Daisy struggles to absorb everything Elijah has told her about her real identity. She asks whether her father is a Commander, to which Elijah replies that he is not, but that her mother has not provided more information about him out of protection. After they talk about Gilead, Elijah leaves, and returns with George, the man who used to frequent The Clothes Hound, who explains that he witnessed the explosion. Getting upset, Daisy goes to her room – but soon Ada comes to retrieve her, and they head into a downstairs apartment. After she sleeps, Daisy wakes up and meets a young man named Garth, and they all get into a van and travel to a carpet outlet called Carpitz in Etobicoke.
