Summary
In Chapter 69, Reece joins a crowd rushing away from the explosion. He takes a hat from another man, hails a cab, and catches a cab. The driver turns up the radio report about the explosion, including that “Initial eyewitness accounts indicated the perpetrator was a male of Middle Eastern descent” (357). Reece, who is American descended from Scandinavian ancestors, chuckles at that description. Reece sends a text with a time and place to meet, then goes to a local marina where his friend Raife is waiting with a boat.
In Chapter 70, Raife navigates through the rain to Fishers Island, New York, where some 250 people live year around. Liz and Katie have found pieces of information that lead Reece to this house, rented by the Hartleys as a Foundation Planning Office. Raife watches as Reece outfits himself in a wetsuit with the appropriate gear...
